Welcome

Thanks for dropping by! This is a spin off from The Swindletone Podcast (swindletone.blogspot.com). Each post will involve the records/cds that I buy, listen to, hear, each month. I will also include the occasional handful of photos I snap, movies I watch, websites I visit and books I read. I will start with the original posts from the first year of the ST Podcast, then I will build new ones.

I fell behind posting these on The Swindletone blog. They always seemed out of place on the blog and podcast considering that I am a music snob. Therefore Handfuls deserves it's own home away from the debauchery, degenerate-degradation, and self-deprecating nature of the podcast. I also have no license and cannot play any of my records on the show.

I am looking for contributors to this blog. If you have a handful of records you think the world should know about, send us a picture of the pile, a brief write-up and I will post it. Thanks again and enjoy!

Handfuls V7

The first post since finding a new home! Includes a BONUS handful.

Here's what I scored at Amoeba San Francisco during three separate trips in one day. I only got from A-R of Rock LP's before we had to eat lunch meaning I still had to finish the ROCK alphabet before starting with Punk and R&B in order to complete my mission. Prior to going back to Amoeba for round 2, I bought a canvas messenger bag solely to fill with more LPs and CDs. The third trip was very spur of the moment. At dinner, while eating burgers, upon seeing that I purchased the Smile bootleg, my friend, Andy Brown, decided he had to buy a copy. My last trip was exclusively for Buzzcocks CDs.

The List
The Beach Boys, Smile (Bootleg)
Heartless Bastards, The Mountain

Handfuls V6

I'd like to refer to this edition of handfuls as "carfuls." I had this particular batch of CD's in my car for a few months. My cd player is very picky. If I put a CD in I have to listen to it as long as I can. Everytime I try to put a new CD in it refuses to accept it. It spits it out yet I try to load one for 2-3 minutes while driving 80 on the freeway. There will start to be some repeat offenders on each of my lists. I listen to records again and again. Rarely does my music get less than 2 spins. The contents of the CD wallet that occupies the crevice in my driver's side door that I rest my left calf against is listed below:

The Associations, And Then...Along Comes The Association
Bill Withers, Lean On Me: The Best of Bill Withers

Stratosphere Boogie: The Flaming guitars Of Speedy West and Jimmy Bryant

Torch, Self Titled
The Kinks, Muswell Hillbillies
The Kinks, Lola versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One
Dinosaur Jr., You're Living All Over Me

Andrew Bird, The Mysterious Production of Eggs
James McMurtry, Childish Things
John Prine, Self Titled
Talking Heads, More Songs About Buildings and Food
The Smiths, The Queen is Dead
